How to Describe a Custom Shirt Order

A checklist of what to tell a print shop so your quote and proof start from the right place: garments, use, artwork, sizes, quantities, and deadline.

By The Press · October 2, 2026

Start with who will wear it

The garment you want depends on how it will be used. Staff shirts for a work shift, a giveaway for customers, and a gift for family each point to different choices.

What to include in your request

The more of these you can share, the fewer back-and-forth questions you will face.

  • The kind of garment: tees, polos, hoodies, hats, or something else
  • What the shirts are for and who will wear them
  • Your artwork, even if it is rough. We review it and tell you what we see
  • Estimated sizes and quantities. A best guess is fine to begin with
  • Your requested deadline, if you have one

About deadlines

Tell us the date you need your order. We confirm whether it is workable once we have reviewed the details, so please treat a requested date as a request until we confirm it with you.

What happens next

We review the artwork and details, then send a digital proof. You approve it or ask for changes before printing. No payment is due until you approve your proof.
